Welcome to SonoBuddy: Your Pocket Ultrasound Reference

Introducing SonoBuddy — the fast reference tool built specifically for sonographers. Instant access to everything you need mid-scan, right in your pocket.

Whether you're a new grad walking into your first solo scan or an experienced sonographer who wants a faster reference than flipping through a textbook, SonoBuddy was built for you.

What Is SonoBuddy?

SonoBuddy is a Progressive Web App (PWA) designed to give sonographers instant, phone-in-pocket access to the clinical information they need — right in the scan room.

No account required. No subscription wall. No loading spinner. Just open it and go.

What's Inside

Measurement Tables

Normal and abnormal reference values for:

  • Vascular — carotid IMT, aorta, IVC, portal vein, renal artery doppler
  • Abdominal — liver, spleen, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas
  • OB/GYN — uterus, ovaries, follicles, fetal biometry
  • Thyroid — gland dimensions, nodule size thresholds
  • Cardiac — basic echo measurements

Every measurement includes a clinical note so you understand why the threshold matters, not just what the number is.

Exam Protocols

Step-by-step scanning guides with probe selection tips, key images to capture for PACS, and a full report checklist. Protocols currently include:

  • Carotid duplex
  • Lower extremity venous DVT survey
  • Abdominal aorta
  • Renal artery doppler
  • Abdominal complete
  • OB first trimester

Clinical Calculators

Built-in calculators that return instant, color-coded results:

  • ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index) with PAD severity grading
  • Resistive Index with renal interpretation
  • Carotid Stenosis grading (SRU 2003 criteria)
  • Organ Volume (ellipsoid formula)
  • AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index)
  • Gestational Age & EDD from LMP or CRL
  • Thyroid Volume

Pathology Library

Concise cards for the most common pathologies you'll encounter — ultrasound findings, red flags, differentials, and practical reporting tips.

Why We Built It

New sonography graduates told us the same thing over and over: "I keep a stack of papers in my pocket because I can't find anything fast enough mid-scan."

Existing apps either cost money, require an account, or are built for physicians rather than the person holding the probe. SonoBuddy is purpose-built for sonographers, with a UI designed for one-handed use in a darkened scan room.

What's Next

SonoBuddy is actively being developed. Coming soon:

  • More protocols (OB anatomy survey, penile duplex, portal hypertension workup)
  • Expanded pathology library with annotated images
  • Favorites — pin the measurements and protocols you use every day
  • Enhanced offline mode

SonoBuddy is a reference tool, not a diagnostic authority. All clinical decisions should involve the ordering provider and interpreting physician.
